"I was here, this is what I saw and this is how I saw it."
Creation unfolds its constant state of change with a universe of awesome colours, forms and textures, animated by the elements and saturated with the spirit of life. This spectacular display of diversity and precious minutiae leaves me humbled and filled with awe.
Painting and drawing is a lifetime pursuit I combine with my love for nature. The images resulting from this partnership reflect the natural environment we share our experience of existence with.
Selecting the subject and methods intuitively, I explore creation's dialogue with our natural world framed within a context of light, weather and season. Working comfortably in oil paint, pastel, watercolour or pen & ink, each stroke applied is an intimate encounter with every surface and detail revealing this divinely inspired dimension of our reality.
Using a realistic approach to capture the essence of my subject I seize it for all time, inviting close and lengthy scrutiny (intentionally slowing down this fast-paced world). Prolonging the aesthetic experience will nourish the desire to see more, arouse latent instincts, and re-awaken appreciation for nature; our companion in life and the "voice" of our living planet.
Recognizing this "voice" challenges merely accepting what is perceived as either dead or alive according to its mundane form and utility. It encourages the discovery of insights that go beyond acknowledging a subject's essential qualities and long after its primary role is silenced.
"A tree long dead continues to fascinate us in the form of driftwood, its essence still very much alive, stirring us to think again."
